4-Session Engagement Counseling Series

  • Understand the emotional roller coaster that surrounds the wedding
  • Skillfully negotiate and reduce conflicts with each other, your parents and future in-laws
  • Transform wedding-related tensions into opportunities for growth in your relationship
  • Gain effective lifelong communication techniques

Most engaged couples experience conflict with each other and their families because getting married is a huge emotional transition for all involved.

Conflicts that arise during the wedding planning process may seem to be about the color of the napkins or the seating arrangements at the reception.   However, the real issues below the surface are about the losses and changes that accompany this major rite of passage.

The time leading up to the wedding requires you to shift your loyalty from your parents to each other and let go of your single identities.  It
can be tempting to avoid the difficult conversations, especially if you’re operating under the myth that you’re supposed to be constantly happy during this time.  However, if the emotional work is not done during the engagement, the issues can resurface in the marriage until they are resolved.
